What happens when you use the calculator
When you type a city or ZIP code, or share your location, your browser sends that text or those coordinates to our server. Our server uses it to look up the place and fetch the forecast, then returns the result. We do not ask for your name, email address or any account details. Basic request details, including the place or coordinates you searched, may appear in our hosting logs for troubleshooting and security.
What is stored on your device
Your browser remembers your last search, your district setting and your preferred units (inches or centimeters) in local storage on your own device so the page is ready next time. You can clear this at any time through your browser's site data settings. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
Services we rely on
- Cloudflare hosts the site and serves pages. Like any web host, it processes technical request information such as IP address and browser type to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Open-Meteo provides forecasts and place lookups. Our server sends it the place name you searched or coordinates rounded to about one kilometer. Your own IP address is not sent to Open-Meteo by our server.
- Google Fonts delivers the typefaces used on the site, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers when a page loads.
Using your location
The "Use my location" button asks your browser for permission. If you agree, your coordinates are used once to fetch the forecast. If you decline, nothing is sent, and you can type your city instead.
Changes
If we add advertising, analytics or other features that change how data is handled, we will update this page before they go live.
